It is characterized by its round leaves covered in red glandular hairs that secrete a sticky substance, allowing it to trap small insects. In summer, the plant produces slender stalks with delicate white or pinkish flowers, adding a touch of beauty to wetland environments. Round-leaved sundew thrives in nutrient-poor, typically acidic and very moist soils.

Round-leaved sundew has been traditionally used for its antispasmodic and expectorant properties. The leaves are harvested to treat respiratory conditions, including coughs, bronchitis, and asthma.
