Invite nature into your yard with this unique kit, designed to actively support local biodiversity while creating a vibrant and colourful garden. Each of the four species blooms successively from May to October, ensuring a constant supply of nectar for pollinators.
The kit contains seeds of four carefully selected native species:
- Red columbine (Aquilegia canadensis): An elegant perennial with red and yellow bell-shaped flowers that attract hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies. Thriving in both shaded woodlands and sunny slopes, it helps stabilize soil and supports biodiversity.
- Wild bergamot (Monarda fistulosa): A spectacular, fragrant native perennial with striking beauty. Wild bergamot is also an edible and medicinal plant that attracts numerous pollinators and hummingbirds. Its citrusy, thyme, and oregano-like fragrance makes it perfect for infusions or adding colour and aroma to dishes. Medicinally, it is valued for its expectorant and antiseptic properties.
- Butterfly milkweed (Asclepias tuberosa): Like its cousin the common milkweed, butterfly milkweed is a crucial plant for monarch butterflies, whose caterpillars feed exclusively on milkweed. However, this species is less aggressive and better suited for smaller spaces. It produces spectacular orange flower clusters atop stems with narrow, glossy green leaves.
- New England aster (Symphyotrichum novae-angliae): A Quebec native perennial, this late-blooming plant attracts butterflies and serves as a vital late-season food source for many insects. Producing an impressive display of purple-violet flowers with yellow centres, it is also ideal for enhancing riverbanks or naturalizing sloped terrains.
Each of the four seed containers covers an area of 2 m², for a total of 8 m². The kit also includes:
- A detailed instruction booklet to guide your sowing process.
- A packet of vermiculite, a substrate to perform cold stratification of seeds (don’t worry, everything is explained step-by-step in the booklet!).
🎁 The perfect gift – Treat yourself or surprise a loved one with this kit!
