We are pleased to introduce the products of Gourmet Sauvage, a Quebec-based company that has been a pioneer in showcasing the plants and flavours of the boreal forest. For over 25 years, it has been offering exceptional wild products, harvested responsibly by hand and crafted with artisanal expertise. Their unique creations allow for the rediscovery of Quebec’s rich terroir through a sustainable and authentic approach.

Serviceberry Jam

A small fruit resembling a purplish blueberry, the serviceberry —also known as Saskatoon berry and juneberry—was traditionally consumed in large quantities by Indigenous peoples and held a prominent place in Quebec cuisine until the 1960s. Today, the  serviceberry is making a comeback in gardens, appreciated for its ornamental qualities and early blooming, but also on our plates! Juicy and naturally sweet, serviceberry delights all palates with its subtle hint of almonds and red fruit.

Ingredients

  • serviceberries
  • organic sugar
  • fruit pectin
  • citric acid

A healthy jam is that possible?

Serviceberry jam is made with a minimum of high quality ingredients. It contains more than 55% fruit. Tasty and with little sugar, it is a great option at the breakfast table.

Serviceberries have more anti oxydants than any of the small fruit you will find in your grocery store. They also contain polyphenols and anthocyanins which give the fruit their particular colour and which science recognizes as prophylactics against several diseases, not the least of which is cancer.

Using Serviceberry jam

Evidently welcomed at the breakfast table, this lovely northern fruit is full of surprises; try the following :

  • In a sauce for spare ribs
  • Added to stewed meats or roast juices
  • With ice cream or cake
